Singapore's Public Swimming Pools: The Full ActiveSG List
Singapore’s public swimming pools are where almost every HydroSplash lesson actually happens — our classes run inside ActiveSG facilities rather than a pool we own ourselves. Knowing which pools exist, where they sit, and what kind of pool each one is matters whether you’re choosing a lesson location near home or just checking what’s available islandwide.
Singapore has 25 public swimming pools run by Sport Singapore under the ActiveSG network, spread across the North, Central, East, West and Northeast regions. Each is classified as either a Normal Pool, with a competition pool, a teaching pool and a wading pool only, or a Feature Pool, with the same core pools plus slides, a lazy river or wave elements. HydroSplash teaches at a number of these venues; ActiveSG’s own facility listing is the current source for hours, closures and pricing at any individual pool.
How Many Public Pools Does Singapore Have?
Per ActiveSG’s own listing, Singapore currently has 25 public swimming pools. That count shifts over time, since venues get renamed, redeveloped, or absorbed into larger sports hubs, so ActiveSG’s own page is a more reliable source than any third-party guide, this one included.
Public Pools by Region
A representative spread, confirmed directly against ActiveSG’s listing rather than assumed: in the West, Jurong West Swimming Complex, Jurong East Swimming Complex, Bukit Batok Swimming Complex and Choa Chu Kang Swimming Complex, a Feature Pool. In Central, Clementi Swimming Complex, Delta, Geylang East, Queenstown and Jalan Besar Swimming Complexes. In the North, Woodlands, Yishun, Yio Chu Kang and Bukit Canberra Swimming Complexes. In the Northeast, Bishan and Hougang Swimming Complexes, plus ActiveSG Sport Park @ Teck Ghee Swimming Complex, which shares its address (1771 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1) with the older Ang Mo Kio Swimming Complex listing. In the East, Heartbeat @ Bedok ActiveSG Swimming Complex.
This is a sample, not the complete 25. ActiveSG’s own page is where to check for the pool nearest you. You’ll sometimes see Clementi discussed alongside our Jurong-area content elsewhere on this site; that’s about travel convenience, not ActiveSG’s own administrative region, which places Clementi in Central.
Normal Pool vs Feature Pool
Every venue falls into one of two categories. A Normal Pool keeps things simple: a competition pool, a teaching pool and a wading pool, with no recreational extras. A Feature Pool adds a lazy river, water slides or similar attractions on top of those same core pools. For structured lessons, Normal Pools tend to work better, since there are fewer distractions competing for a student’s attention while they’re learning a stroke.
Pools Currently Closed or Under Redevelopment
A few venues are going through significant works. Toa Payoh Swimming Complex has been closed since 2023 as part of the broader Toa Payoh Integrated Development, a large, multi-year rebuild into a new regional sports hub rather than a routine upgrade, so it’s worth checking Sport Singapore’s own announcements for the latest timeline instead of expecting a near-term reopening. Ang Mo Kio Swimming Complex has similarly been absorbed into the newer ActiveSG Sport Park @ Teck Ghee, so a search for the old name should point there instead.
How HydroSplash Chooses Which Public Pools We Teach At
We pick venues based on lane availability, evening and weekend hours, and how easy each pool is to reach without a car. Swimming Lessons in Jurong West, Jurong East and Clementi are three of our most active locations for exactly that reason. If a public pool isn’t convenient, our private condo swimming lessons bring a coach to your own building instead.
Finding a Pool Near You
The fastest way to check a specific pool’s hours, closures or admission price is ActiveSG’s own facility page for that venue, since it updates faster than any guide. Deciding between an early morning or evening session also comes down to personal routine as much as the venue; our guide on whether it’s better to swim at night or during the day covers that trade-off. If you already know where you’d like lessons, our private swimming lessons and kids’ swimming lessons pages cover where we currently teach.
Frequently Asked Questions
How Many Public Swimming Pools Does Singapore Have?
25, per ActiveSG’s own facility listing, spread across the North, Central, East, West and Northeast regions.
What's the Difference Between a Normal Pool and a Feature Pool?
A Normal Pool has just a competition, teaching and wading pool. A Feature Pool adds attractions like slides or a lazy river on top of those same pools.
Is Toa Payoh Swimming Complex Still Closed?
Yes. It remains closed as part of a long-term redevelopment into a new regional sports hub, with no fixed reopening date confirmed.
Can I Get Lessons at My Own Condo Instead of a Public Pool?
Yes. HydroSplash runs private condo swimming lessons for residents who’d rather not travel to a public pool.
